Behind "The Foods of Athenry" is an enthusiastic farm family. Like many farm families, baking deliciously healthy food for their own kitchen table was driven by necessity but rooted in tradition.  An uncertain future in agriculture and childhood health problems influenced a lifelong interest in the relationship of food vs health, leading to the set up a bakery business in which there was no room for any artificial food additives. The cows were sold in 2004 and the bakery moved into the now empty milking parlour- The Foods of Athenry was born.
