Saccharomyces boulardii is most commonly used for treating and preventing diarrhoea, including infectious types such as rotaviral diarrhoea in children, diarrhoea caused by gastrointestinal (GI) take-over (overgrowth) by "bad" bacteria in adults, traveler's diarrhoea, and diarrhea associated with tube feedings. It is also used to prevent and treat diarrhoea caused by the use of antibiotics.

Some studies also show that taking Saccharomyces boulardii by mouth could potentially help improve the appearance of acne.

OptiBac Probiotics Saccharomyces boulardii provides 5 billion live cultures guaranteed per capsule. It does not interfere with medicines or supplement for Candida, IBS or diarrhoea.

This has been well researched and used safely across the world for the last 50 years.

Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Each capsule provides 5 billion live cultures.

Live cultures: Saccharomyces boulardii (250mg); vegetarian capsule: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.

Can safely be used either on an occasional or daily basis, depending on reasons for use.

Adults and children (1 year & over): Take 1 to 4 capsules depending on severity of symptoms, and up to 6 capsules daily; or as professionally directed. OptiBac Probiotics may be used on an ongoing basis.

Please note that although this product can be taken by children, diarrhea in children should be evaluated by a healthcare professional before using Saccharomyces boulardii.

How long does OptiBac Probiotics Saccharomyces Boulardii 40 Capsules take to work?

OptiBac Probiotics Saccharomyces Boulardii 40 Capsules aren’t a medication, so how long they take to work varies from person to person. It’s also influenced by a number of other factors like lifestyle, diet, nutrition, your unique microbiome, medical conditions and any other medication you’re taking. Generally speaking, you should take a probiotic for at least 3 months before judging if you experience the benefits or not.

People with yeast allergies can be allergic to products containing Saccharomyces boulardii, and are best advised to avoid these products.

Live cultures are not recommended for those with serious medical conditions e.g. those who are severely immunosuppressed, have pancreatitis, are in the ICU, have melaena, have a central venous catheter, infants with short bowel syndrome, or to patients with open wounds following major surgery; unless under a doctor's care. Furthermore, pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking Saccharomyces boulardii, or 'For travelling abroad'.
