Essence Nutrition D3 2000 UI is a food supplement in tablet form containing vitamin D in the form of cholecalciferol. Vitamin D and its metabolites belong to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. In the human body, cholecalciferol undergoes the process of two enzymatic hydroxylation to calcitriol, i.e. a biologically active form. As a result of these changes, the main metabolite of vitamin D3 is formed, i.e. 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 - 25 (OH) D3. The level of 25 (OH) D3 increases in proportion to the amount of vitamin D taken with diet or supplements, and is therefore considered a marker of vitamin D3 content in the body. Vitamin D aids in the proper absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus, as well as the proper functioning of muscles and the immune system. It also helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and helps maintain healthy bones and teeth. Vitamin D is involved in the process of cell division.
