Folic acid, also called folacin, is a water-soluble vitamin of the B-complex.

Folic acid was first discovered in spinach back in 1940s. The human body cannot store folic acid, so it needs to get a regular supply of the vitamin through diet.

That is why this vitamin deficiency is considered to be the most common.
